Accelerating Comprehensive AIDS Response Enhanced for Sustainability
The US-CDC funded project is designed to improve the lives and well-being of key populations and persons who at higher risks of acquiring HIV than the general populations in Abia, Imo and Enugu States. The project provides comprehensive prevention services to all clients and HIV treatment services to PLHIV KPs through a variety of safe and confidential approaches than enhance cohesive community participation and peer support. CCCRN supports KP Led CBOs to play key role in community mobilization, risk reduction behavior change and advocacy. Services are offered through KP friendly services, One Stop Shops (OSS) and Drop in Centers. (2022– 2027)

Accelerating Control of the HIV Epidemic in Nigeria The ACE C4 project, led by CCCRN in Abuja, strategically addresses the HIV epidemic by focusing on four key result areas. It aims to enhance access to HIV/AIDS/TB prevention and treatment services, improve service quality, fortify the health system’s resiliency, and build capacity for evidence-based monitoring. The project, designed for evidence-driven impact, incorporates robust Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning practices and emphasizes local partnerships and sustainability. Implemented through crosscutting approaches, including sustainable service delivery, health workforce capacity enhancement, quality improvement institutionalization, and technology solutions, ACE4 ensures efficient and effective program execution. All interventions are evidence- based, culturally sensitive, and gender-responsive, fostering integration between social, health, and HIV services for a comprehensive continuum of care. Collaboration with existing mechanisms within the state, involving partners like Jhpiego, ARFH, and SCIDaR, amplifies the project’s reach and impact. This concerted effort represents a multifaceted strategy, emphasizing evidence, sustainability, and integration to combat the HIV epidemic effectively. (2022 – 2027)

The ICHSSA 1 is a USAID funded project that has provided comprehensive health and social services to over 200,000 beneficiaries in more than 40,000 households in Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Bayelsa states.
The project addresses multiple social determinant of health and strives to reduce vulnerabilities of its beneficiaries to HIV, other infections, physical and emotional abuse. Services include health, education, protection, nutrition, shelter and with an anchor on household economicstrengthening to ensure capacity of households to be self-sufficient and sustain access to these services. (2019 – 2024).
Through funding from the US-CDC, CCCRN partnered with regulatory agencies and pre service health training institutions to improve the training infrastructure, review curricula, leverage technology and build capacity of tutors to deliver competency based trainings for infectious diseases of interest in 13 Schools of Nursing and Colleges of Health Technology in Enugu, Imo and Ebonyi States.
Over 3,000 undergraduates were trained as at the end of the project and more continue to receive the benefits long thereafter. (2012 – 2014)
A five-year cooperative agreement with US-CDC to institutionalize in-service trainings for HIV management in Nigeria. CCCRN established ten training centers in tertiary health facilities located in Federal Capital Territory, Gombe, Nassarawa, Benue, Ekiti, Lagos Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers, Kaduna states. The project built capacity of existing hospital resource persons and improved the infrastructure at to integrate HIV/TB trainings and practicum into existing service delivery processes.
The project developed a curriculum and training program to build capacity of Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWS) to provide expanded care for HIV epidemic control. While more than 130 national trainers were trained, over 8,600 health care workers have received in-service trainings in Adult ART, Pediatric ART, PMTCT, HCT, TB/HIV and other trainings in Infectious diseases within the catchment area of the facility. (2012 – 2017)

Strengthening Epidemic Response Systems
Working in a partnership with University of Maryland, the CDC funded project
strengthened reporting systems for early detection and response for diseases of public health importance in 33 states of Nigeria. The project provided capacity building and technical assistance support to state epidemiology units and the National Reference laboratory, including support for molecular laboratories for viral disease detection.
The team supported NCDC in conducting the post Yellow fever simulation exercise to
review and discuss timely, effective and coordinated responses to a large-scale public health emergency. (2015 – 2018)
Global Action Towards HIV Epidemic Control in Sub-national Units in Nigeria
In contributing to the acceleration of service saturation and achievement of epidemic control in Imo state, CCCRN through a subaward from the CDC funded –CCFN 4 GATES project implemented community differentiated service delivery (DSD) approaches to deliver client centric drug refill services and laboratory services to PLHIV.
The project identified over 120 community case workers to decentralize care and simplify service delivery to PLHIV in a manner that de-escalate stigma and improved retention forclients. (2021 – 2022)
Service Expansion and Early Detection for Sustainable HIV Care
The 5-year cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention supported Nigerian service delivery facilities and communities to provide
comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment activities, and reduce mortality
and morbidity from HIV in Imo, Enugu and Ebonyi States. CCCRN activated 42
comprehensive ART sites, 726 PMTCT sites and 86 TB/HIV sites.
The project Counselled and tested over 2 million persons in facilities and communities, provided ART to 32,979 clients and linked 9,014 HIV infected pregnant women to ART to 7,465. (2012 –2017)
