Objectives

 To strengthen reporting systems for early detection and response for diseases of public health importance

Impacts

The project instituted a user friendly menu driven SMS based reporting system to improve efficiency over the traditional paper based method and improved timeliness and correctness of weekly reporting to almost 100% from 32% prior to the intervention.

The CCCRN clinical and laboratory team provided capacity building and technical assistance support to the National Reference laboratory staff in FCT and led the deployment of Laboratory Information Management systems in 9 public health laboratories in Lagos, Oyo, FCT, Enugu, Edo, Rivers, Sokoto, Kano and Borno States

The project built a wide network of local government health officials in more than 300 local governments in Nigeria including for the purpose of disease surveillance and response to public health threats

Provided solutions for data collection from pharmacies and patent medicine vendors on antimicrobial resistance surveillance efforts
